4 ways to re-purpose content for social media

Most likely, your following will be spread across several mediums:  email, blog, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter.

And, you must meet your audience where they’re at.

Instead of creating new content for each platform, here are four ways that you can re-purpose your content to be used across all mediums, and even several times within the same medium.

Use a screenshot to link to the entirety of the content.

Let’s look at Gary Vaynerchuck for an example.  He posted a new ‘rant’ on his YouTube channel.  But, rather than create a customly designed image for Instagram, he simply screenshotted the video and added a link.

He was able to reach his Instagram audience with a simple screenshot.

Use your SnapChat or Instagram stories as part of your YouTube content (especially vlogs)

You can use the tidbits of information shared in your Instagram and SnapChat stories almost as ‘teasers’ for your vlog or webinars or longer content.

You can even use that exact content in a vlog as you’re documenting your methods and processes.  No need to film twice if you don’t have to.

Extract quotes from a blog post, interview, podcast, vlog, or even book to create still images of quotes.

Tim Ferriss recently released a book called Tribe of Mentors.

Interestingly enough, that book is re-purposed content from his podcast.

He is now re-purposing the content from his book to become still images for his Instagram.

He could stretch it out to have content for an entire year.

You can do the same.

If you don’t have time to create your own content, use other people’s content.

Why limit yourself to what only you can produce?

Re-tweeting, reposting, and sharing (regardless of the medium), can create new content for your readers, while simply stealing content that someone else spent a large majority of time on.

If you want to make sure that your business gets traffic from sharing someone else’s material, simply create an optin page that redirects to someone else’s material (you get their email addresses, but they will eventually land on the traffic).

You can also create a blog post on your site that links to the other person’s content.

Just be smart about copyright laws.

Save yourself time and energy by re-purposing your content.  Besides, by letting your followers see your content in a variety of forms, it allows for your message to penetrate their minds more deeply, and ultimately make them more devoted to you and your brand.
